Field Trip to CBC Sounds of the Season

My classmate and I went to Union Station to attend our school field trip to the CBC Broadcast Centre last Friday. We met under the big clock at 9.30am.

We followed level 6 teacher, Mr. Donald to go to CBC Tower. When we arrived, there were many people standing in line. I had been for an hour in line. This made me so tired. Finally, we entered the studio and listened to the concert.

Remembrance Day

Many Canadians wear the poppy to honour the memory of the Canadians who died in military service during World War 1, World War 2 and other wars.
During World War 1, many Canadians soldiers were buried in an area of France and Belgium known as Flanders. In 1915, John McCrae, a Canadian military doctor, noticed poppies growing in the cemetery field and wrote a poem called "In Flanders Fields."
In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
After the poem became famous, the poppy was adopted as a symbol of remembrance. people vowed never to forget the horror of war and many Canadians wear the poppy before Remembrance Day.
Officials signed the peace treaty to end World War 1 in 1918, on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. In 1931, the Canadian government declared November 11 Remembrance Day. After World War 2 ended in 1945, it became a memorial for those who died in both wars and all other wars that followed. At 11:00 a.m. On November 11, Canadians observe a moment of silence to remember those who died.
At the Peace Tower in Ottawa, every day is a day of remembrance. The Memorial Chamber has the book of Remembrance that contains the names of Canadian soldiers who gave their lives for their country.

UP time America by Dr.Kimberly Alyn's speech

phrasal verbs :
America listen up
If you see injustice, STAND UP
If something needs to be said, SPEAK UP
If you make an appointment, SHOW UP
If you make a mistake, FESS UP
If you’re overstepping, BACK UP
If you get behind, CATCH UP
If they knock you down, GET UP
If you’re out of line, STRAIGHTEN UP
When your boss instructs, KEEP UP
When your elders speak, LISTEN UP
When your teachers teach, SIT UP
When your preachers preach, WAKE UP
When your country calls, MAN UP
Ladies too... WOMAN UP
When the fight is over, MAKE UP
If you’re being hard, EASE UP
If your heart is closed, OPEN UP
If you want to buy something, SAVE UP--
It’s not an entitlement, so SHUT UP!
If you make a mess, CLEAN IT UP
If you drop trash, PICK IT UP
If a car is waiting for you to
walk across the street, SPEED IT UP
If you’re cold busted, GIVE IT UP
If people fall down, HELP THEM UP--
Not the government, YOU STEP UP
If idiots start fighting, BREAK IT UP
If the music is wholesome, TURN IT UP
If the message is poisonous, THROW IT UP
If your words are vulgar, CLAM IT UP
If your words encourage, KEEP IT UP
If your pants are baggy, PULL THEM UP
If the belt’s too loose, CINCH IT UP
If your fly is down, ZIP IT UP
If you’re dressed half naked, COVER IT UP
If you can’t afford stuff, PASS IT UP--
No “bailouts” folks, PONY UP
If you made a promise, you BACK IT UP
And you can take your whining and PACK IT UP
It’s called personal responsibility, so TAKE IT UP
This country was founded on it, you can LOOK IT UP
It’s the American way people, so TURN IT UP
Because when life gets boring, you SHAKE IT UP
When life is good, you SOAK IT UP
When life’s unfair, you SUCK IT UP
When life is funny, you can YUCK IT UP
When life is sad, just LOOK STRAIGHT UP
And life’s too short people, so LIVE IT UP!

HALLOWEEN

On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of Wittenberg Church, sparking the Protestant Reformation.
Every October 31, They gather with their church to celebrate this important era of Christian history and to learn about the men and women God used to bring it about. This has been a great Christian alternative to Halloween as well!
They've gathered their ideas and plans into book form as "A Night of Reformation." You can get complete plans for five different Reformation Nights focused on John Calvin, Martin Luther, the Scottish Covenanters, and more.

A Disappointing BBQ Party

My apartment is located near a mall and a subway station. It's very convenient. My neighbours are very quiet. But the trouble with the building is that the elevators are too slow. I think it is because the building is old and maybe the elevators are overworked. I often take the stairs. It is a good chance for exercise.
The rental office of my building had a BBQ party on Wednesday at for 5:30pm to 7:00pm. All tenants were invited. I thought that the party would improve the relationship between the landlord and tenants. My family and I arrived at the party at 5:45pm. I saw many neighbours. They sat by themselves. We took our coupons to the reception desk. The BBQ company serviced us. We joined the long line to get our food. Finally, I got a hotdog, an ice cream cone and a bottle of water. The hotdog was cold and the ice cream was melting. I felt cheated. After a few minutes, the BBQ company packed up and the party was over.
I will not attend it next time.

Field Trip to Queen's Park

This was my first time joining my new class in a field trip. I got up early because I had never ridden the subway by myself. "Call 911 if you get lost," my husband said. He likes kidding with me.
Anyway, I was lucky. I arrived at Queen's Park and met with my teacher and classmates at the entrance of the Legislative Building. We went into the hall following the guide. She introduced the Legislative Chamber, the East and West Wings of the building, the history of Ontario and our rich parliamentary heritage.
The building has many showcases of mahogany with richly carved details, portraits of Premiers and Speakers of the House who have contributed to Ontario's history, and busts of prominent Canadians along the hallways on the first and second floors .

I think this is an opportunity to improve my writing in English. However I will try.

I felt my English level was the worst among my new classmates. They spoke very fluently in English. I hope I am like them.
